Hey Peter,
Cool video! Thanks for posting that. I like those samba ideas. I'll try 'em out tonight.
Best,
Andy

PS: This video was done a few years ago,
when I had first purchased my digital kit.
I found it on the server, thinking it was
a decent reminder of how one could alter-
nately approach the rhythm, which is ob-
viously very Gadd-inspired.
I should have mentioned that, when I did
this, I neglected to talk about how it did
not matter if one played open or not.
Steve plays trad and puts his left hand on
that HH. Don't let that stop you.

Just curious you used stick with nylon tip for not use the pad or for make then quieter when you play ? ( does a nylon tip make a rubber pad quieter ? )
It does not make them any quieter.
I am actually using larger tipped
Quantum 3K's these days, for better
signal (more contact).
Those were VF Omar Hakim's. I love
those sticks but my hands react to
the finish on the stick.

They do not react to the Regal-Tip.
Geez. I look like an old man. Now,
I'm even older.

Yeah, Pete!
That's great. It kind of reminds me of how Akira Jimbo takes an idea from someone (i.e. Gadd!) and changes it, permutates it, and makes it his own. Very cool!
"Late in the Evening", as well, is one of my favorite grooves ever.
Hope you're well. I hope to see you soon!

Tom,
Hi, man! I wish I could have made
it out to see you, recently. The
Holiday is nuts, with family and
I was out of town and work etc.
Anyway, Akira is one of my favor-
ite players and as a matter of
fact, I think he said something
about this very thing.
I just saw this one (a few years
old) and it reminded me. I thought
it might give a couple of people
an idea or two.
I miss you, brother! You know that
I think the world of you!

Very nice Pete! Seems that Steve is not the only one that can make COOL drum lessons...
I can?t wait to see the official first Pete (latin?) drum lesson!
Wow! very cool Pete, very nice technique, looks so relaxed!
I'm definitely gonna check this out next time.
I've allways done samba in contemporary music with a back beat, but i'm gonna try and do some hybriding next time
Thanks again, keep em comming!
Thanks, guys. Really, I just responded
to someone's question.
You can hear it applied in this:

It really works.
